s'Estanyol Beach
The scattered nature of the local buildings is most clearly seen in the area surrounding Ibiza Town. It is hard to define where the town of Ibiza ends and the villages of Jesus or residential estates of Cap Martinet and Talamanca begin. The growth of Ibiza Town over the last twenty years has been tremendous and this has left its mark on the physiognomy of the island. Ibiza was originally conceived as a defensive stronghold. The town appears to be divided up into a series of quarters which have grown up due to historical changes. Among them, the most notable are the Dalt Vila, or Old Town, dating back to medieval times, sa Marina, which grew up outside the walls in the 15th century, sa Penya and s'Eixample, the main commercial and financial centre of the town. Nowadays, the spread of Ibiza town is taking place around the port area and alongside the stretches of road leaving the town and linking it with the other parts of the island. Santa Eulalia Map |

| s Estanyol | Although the built-up area does not stretch as far as s'Estanyol, in summer this beach tends to be very crowded. 110 meters long and 20 metre wide, s'Estanyol has a lifeguard on duty, bar- restaurant and sun-bed and beach umbrella hire. The surrounding pine groves extend down to the white sand. |
