Located right in the heart of Ibiza, Santa Gertrudis is full of character and charm with its tranquil streets and lovely bars and restaurants. Here you can feel the real Ibiza country life but still be only 10 minutes from the excitement of Ibiza Town. The mixture of local country people and the cosmopolitan ex patriots makes Santa Gertrudis one of the most popular places to live or visit in Ibiza.

Transport

By car, Santa Gertrudis is about 15minutes from most of Ibiza's diverse attractions. It is inland but is central to all of the coasts and makes experiencing different beaches easy. Having a car if staying in Santa Gertrudis is definitely the best way to travel.

If you are without a car there is a bus service that goes from Ibiza – Santa Gertrudis – San Miguel.

Taxis will be easy to find from any of the bigger towns but getting back might involve ringing the taxi company as there is no taxi rank here.

Accommodation

There are no large hotels in Santa Gertrudis and most travellers rent villas to stay here. There are some rural hotels close by to enjoy the country side and this lovely town at the same time. Santa Gertrudis is a perfect destination for families and couples who are not into the Ibiza party scene.

Restaurants

The real charm that vibrates in the street of Santa Gertrudis comes from in part, the many bars and restaurants you will find for almost any buget. From authentic tappas to sophisticated dining, you can eat a great “on the road lunch” or sit down to enjoy a long candle lit garden dinner. As typical in Ibiza there are many restaurants which also offer great, set 3 course day menus, for about 9€.

In Summer, most of these restaurants at night become the meeting point for drinks and a chat while sitting on one of the many terraces.

Shops

There are some very beautiful boutique shops in Santa Gertrudis which sell locally hand made crafts and shops who sell clothing and decorative articles from all around the world. You can also find newstands with news papers from around Europe, a pharmacy, a tobacconist, book shops, antique auctioneers and 3 super markets.
