San Lorenzo (Sant Llorneç de Balafia) is a small village located in the north of Ibiza, full of light and surrounded by fields.

 

Like other towns, the church is the center and was built here as this area was already populated in the 16th century. The fortified village consists of five country houses and two watchtowers. The houses have a cross painted on them as it was believed that it gave protection against attacks.

The old village of Balàfia is considered to be one of the finest examples of traditional architecture on the island. You can find it just to the east of San Lorenzo within easy walking distance.

If you are staying near by, do look out for the Paloma Restaurant which offers a delightful atmosphere, and fine Italian cuisine.
